Dance Notes
Lamba Lamba notes from Jana Rickel's class (with credit to Mary):
Introduction – IZLIZANE (ee-ZLEE-zah-neh) – basic kopanica side to side
Transition – HAJDE (HIGH-day) – transition step from izlizane to ostavi
Pattern I – OSTAVI (oh-STAH-vee) – “o-stoppy” – hold on 4-5-1-2.
Pattern II – NABIJ (nah-BEE) – "knobby knees" – touch R toe behind with right knee turned out
Pattern III – HLOPNI (HLOHP-nee) – "close knees" – closing step with knees together during preparatory lifting of the right foot before clopping the feet together again and shifting weight secretly to the right foot
Pattern IV – KRĀSTOSAI (KRUH-stoh-sah-ee) = women’s variation – "crossing" step aka resting step aka what sensible women do when men are doing squats (actually, the patterns would only happen at the same time if there were separate men's and women's lines)
Pattern V – LAMBA LAMBA (LAHM-bah LAHM-bah) – if you don’t remember this then what’s the point of the dance?
